Policy statement: Gardening Services Archway is committed to providing a safe working environment for all staff, contractors and members of the public affected by our garden maintenance Archway operations. Scope and objectives: This health and safety policy applies to all activities carried out by our team, including tree pruning, hedge trimming, planting, turfing, chemical use and operation of powered tools. The principal objectives are to prevent injuries, protect health, ensure safe use of equipment and maintain a safe workplace whether work is conducted on private gardens or public green spaces. Our approach balances practical field procedures with continuous improvement.

Responsibilities: Management will ensure that adequate resources are provided to implement this policy, including training, supervision and suitable equipment. Team leaders are responsible for day-to-day site safety, completing and reviewing risk assessments and ensuring that all operatives follow safe systems of work. Employees and subcontractors must work safely, report hazards and use provided personal protective equipment (PPE). Visitors and clients are expected to respect cordons and directions while work is in progress.

Risk assessment and planning are central to our safe working practices. Before work begins a written or recorded risk assessment will be carried out to identify hazards such as uneven ground, proximity to roads, overhead services, manual handling loads and potentially hazardous plant. Where hazardous substances are used, such as approved pesticides or fertilizers, Material Safety Data Sheets will be reviewed and control measures put in place. Archway gardening services teams will plan tasks to minimise exposure and schedule higher risk activities during safer conditions.

Safe operating procedures: We maintain documented safe methods for common tasks: safe use of chainsaws and brushcutters, ladder and access safety, mechanical mulcher operations and vehicle loading.
